About Me
I am an HCPC-registered, highly qualified and experienced counselling psychologist. I began my training in psychology in 2009 and qualified as a Counselling Psychologist at the University of Manchester in 2014. I now have many years’ experience as a Senior Counselling Psychologist in the NHS, where I provide psychological assessments and therapy, as well as supervision to other therapists and trainees in the service. My current role involves providing therapy for adults with difficulties such as depression, anxiety, complex PTSD and relational difficulties, including many co-occurring issues. The clients that I see have often had many previous attempts at therapy.
I have worked in a number of settings including NHS primary care, older adults and eating disorder/weight management services, as well as for third sector organisations. I am also a guest lecturer at the University of Manchester on the doctoral course for those training to be counselling psychologists.
My Approach
I am known as a warm and effective psychologist. I provide a tailored, evidence-based approach. We will initially work together to develop a joint understanding of your difficulties (what we call a psychological formulation). From here we develop a treatment plan where we can discuss the different therapies that we can draw upon to help you move forward and feel like yourself again.
The therapies that I use can include :
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
- Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT),
- Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT)
- Acceptance and Commitment therapy (CFT)
- Eye Movement and Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR)
- Person centred therapy
